ADOBE'S NEW CREATIVE SUITE CS4 LAUNCHING TODAY Suites add new features and tighter integration with Suite Products
(September 23rd 2008) This morning Adobe Systems Incorporated officially announced the latest professional graphics and Multimedia package, Adobe Creative Suite 4 or CS4. Carol and I watched the launch event hosted by Senior VP of Creative Solutions Business Unit Johnny Loiacono and the President and CEO of Adobe Shantanu Narayen.
A Video in true Johnny L style took to the streets to find out what people thought of the new CS4 Suites and instead had Johnny handing out boxes of the product to anybody that walked by. Our favorite moment in this video was when he handed the Master Collection to a toddler.
The presentation got serious as it highlighted the functions of the new suites with areas addressed such as Time Savers, Graphics Performance, integration of the products and innovation to the product line. This is not just a update to some features of the previous CS3 suite, this as Johnny L put it, is a overhaul and addition of hundreds of new features. The Adobe staff put in over 1700 person years of work to complete CS4. We saw incredible features with Flash CS4 Professional that will make it easier for the new user to work with the many features of the product as well as bring them in from other products in the suite. Web designers will appreciate the new features in not only Dreamweaver CS4 but also Photoshop and Fireworks to save time and money in developing rich content filled sites.
Photoshop, the flagship product of the company, has been developed with new features including Content Aware Scaling where the pixels can be manipulated to achieve design elements and graphics changes that not only look great but save time with Adobe Photoshop CS4 Extended.
The breakdown of the Adobe Creative Suite 4 product lines are intended to deliver different aspects and solutions for the creative workflow depending on the user’s needs.
First up for the CS4 lineup is Adobe Creative Suite Design Premium which would be focused at the Designer, graphics pro, website creator and manager, includes new versions of the popular Desktop Publishing program InDesign CS4, Photo editing, graphics creation and manipulation with Photoshop CS4 Extended, Vector based graphics creation with Adobe Illustrator CS4, Web and Video animation creation with Adobe Flash CS4, Website creation with Dreamweaver CS4, Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro and Fireworks Pro CS4 for working tightly with website design and image creation. A Design standard edition will also be available which will not feature all the bells and whistles found in this powerful premium package available for PC and Mac OS X Intel and Power PC based users.
Another offering from Adobe this morning that will be focused on during the launch one geared specifically at Web Designers, the Adobe Creative Suite CS4 Web Premium. With this package designers will find Adobe Fireworks CS4, Adobe Dreamweaver CS4, Adobe Flash CS4 Professional, and Adobe Photoshop CS4 Extended as well as Adobe Illustrator CS4, for collaborating on websites Adobe Contribute CS4, for building sites to look good on mobile devices Adobe Device Central CS4, and Adobe Acrobat 9 Professional software. A new feature to this package and perfect for the integration of audio and video for the web is Adobe Soundbooth CS4. This program incorporates Audio Editing capabilities and was featured in the previous Adobe Production Premium CS3. This will of course be a new version of this program with added features and tight integration. The Web Premium package will be available for PC and Mac OS X Intel and Power PC based systems.
For the Audio Video production user, Adobe also will be launching Adobe Creative Suite 4 Production Premium which is a powerful suite of products aimed at delivering production capabilities for the web producer to professional television production. The video, audio, design and web tools include the motion graphics program Adobe After Effects CS4 Professional, Video editing and production with Adobe Premiere Pro CS4, DVD and Blu Ray creation with Encore CS4, Adobe Photoshop CS4 Extended, Adobe Illustrator CS4, Adobe Flash CS4 Professional, Adobe Soundbooth CS4 and Adobe On-Location CS4. One of the new tools in this new suite is the ability to create Metadata for your Videos which now can be searchable. Video Editors needing a shot of the Tucson Skyline would be able to search on the drive and pull up the content based on the pre entered data. This can save countless hours of searching through footage to find specific video. Both PC and Mac OSX users on Intel based systems will be able to use the Production Premium Suite
A Master Collection of all of the elements of the available suites will also be available from Adobe. These suites are not just new products which have a few more features, users will find tighter integration between the products allowing users to create motion with Photoshop, or share color palettes with Adobe InDesign CS4 or Illustrator CS4. In our first looks at Adobe Photoshop CS4 Extended which we received during the latest Photoshop World conference in Las Vegas, there were some feature that can make it easy for most levels of experience to handle background knockouts, color corrections and motion graphics. We were given a sample of 3D with Photoshop CS4 Extended that knocked our socks off.
