Elections '08: More Mobile Than Ever
Sprint gives us some valuable tips for the Big Date at the Polls

October 30th, 2008 – This election season brings more methods to stay informed and be involved than ever before.  Wireless phones are adding to the voting process in ways that our country’s founders could have never imagined – and in some cases, no one could have even envisioned just four years ago.   As Americans prepare to choose their next president and other officials, here are some mobile applications from Sprint that are changing history:

1. Video.  With Sprint TV, watch clips and live streams of breaking election news from several different channels including ABC News Now, CNN Mobile and FOX News Channel.

2. Email.  Leave the office to vote without worries of missing anything important.  Stay on top of work and personal email with your wireless phone.

3. Search.  Clarify a candidate’s position on an issue or find editorial endorsements by looking them up with Google Search.

4. Facebook.  Update your Facebook profile to tell everyone you voted and to give one last plug for your favorite candidates.

5. Texts.  Send text messages to friends and family reminding them to vote on Tuesday, November 4.

6. Ringtones.  Check out the “Obama vs. McCain” section in the ringtone downloads and choose from several options such as Obama or McCain hip-hop anthems or stadium chants.

7. Internet.  Stay on top of the latest news articles and blogs or check out a candidate’s website with the phone’s internet browser.

8. Screensavers.  Turn the phone’s main screen into a candidate-specific message such as “Vote McCain Palin” or “I Heart Obama Biden” from the “Election ‘08” section in the screensaver downloads.

9. Directions.  Get GPS-enabled maps, turn-by-turn audio and visual directions straight to the polling place with Sprint Navigation.

10. Music.  In line at the polls, use the Sprint Music Store to download and listen to patriotic songs that reinforce the right to vote such as “Born in the U.S.A.” by Bruce Springsteen.
