Listen to the Audio Interview

In my list of favorite things, the televisions show "Lost" is up near the top of the heap. The characters on the show, the style of the production and the tale "Lost" weaves as it intersects the lives of the survivors of a plane crash all add to some riveting and compelling television. Aiding in the suspense, the thoughtful moments and the haunting theme of the show is the brilliant score from composer Michael Giacchino. Not surprisingly, my favorite Mission Impossible film in the series with Tom Cruise was J.J. Abrams "Mission Impossible 3" which also featured the score of Giacchino. The collaborations between the director and musician have always delivered in setting the mood and pace, I can only look forward to what the two will do with Star Trek, due in 2008,Photo of Michael Giacchino

Setting the mood and pace in Television and Film is done with the music which changes as the scenes change in a fllowing manner.

A Video game has got to be a compeletly different ball of digital wax. Michael Giacchino has scored yet another hit with his musical styling and cues of an era long gone with Medal of Honor: Airborne. The game title takes place during World War II and begins dramatically over enemy territory as the characters parachute in to disable large guns.

Michael visits the show to talk about the process of creating a score and how Electronic Arts puts detail and storyline to the game titles that really "make their games work." The discussion on why using the full orchestra over a synthisiser helps with the overall sound in the game as well as how the flow takes place from scene to scene.

The Music of Lost by Michael GiacchinoMichael Giacchino also talks about his recent performance with the Honolulu Symphony of "The Music of Lost." and how some bloggers have asked the question, just what does Michael know about this mysterious show!? While he keeps busy with film projects such as the upcoming Star Trek, Giacchino still develops for the small screen and of course the Medal of Honor series.

His score of Medal of Honor: Airborne adds to the terrific gameplay and great storyline of this first person shooter as another hit in the series which has sold over 31 Million copies worldwide.Available for the PC, Xbox360 and Playstation 3. Fans of the score can puchase the music via iTunes or grab the entire game online at the EA.com website. A great game for the Holiday Gamer, the title is Rated T for Teen and is available for PC-DVD.
