We were happy to hear we would get the opportunity to talk with Scott Kelby, the President of the National Association of Photoshop Professionals, to discuss Photoshop World Vegas 2008 and what to expect this year. We attended last year in Las Vegas and were taken with the different skill levels, professions and types of digital practitioners attended the "Event."
An Event is exactly what Photoshop World is, whether you attend the east coast event or the upcoming Las Vegas 2008 at the Mandalay Bay, it's full of helpful information, scores of tips to get the most out of Adobe Photoshop and programs that can interface with it, as well as a great deal of fun. Scott has put together a crew of over 40 instructors that all share a passion for the Digital Arts and they have outlined course that will run throughout the days of the conference that deal with Photoshop, In Design, Illustrator Premiere Pro and Dreamweaver. The gathering does not focus solely towards Digital work on the PC or Mac but also some ideas to what happens behind and in front of the lens to maximize your photo.
A Huge expo hall, which has grown over the years, accomadates companies that provide plug-ins, printers, service print houses, scanners, cameras, lens, filters, books, training and 3D Digital Arts is open during the conference. Get hands on and sometimes first looks at products available or coming soon.
How do you fit all these courses into your day? Well, you don't. As Matt Kloskowski told us, each attendee is given a book which covers most or all of the tips and tricks handed out in class, attending the courses you know the least of and using the book to brush up on skills seems to work for many. After the sessions, there is usually plenty to do including a fun after hours party at House of Blues where Scotts band, Big Electric Cat, will do a set. Great Entertainment! (Coming from a Radio DJ that played Rock for the last 8 years, I really do think they Rock!)
Scott continues to write books and was recently named author of the Number One Best Selling Digital Photography book of All Time with The Digital Photography Book. He recently started Kelby Training to further help those looking to keep on top of their skills whether at home or the office. Scott also has a tremendous blog with tons of great information and interaction with visitors to the site at http://www.scottkelby.com and also provides great information with others at Photoshop User TV. Scott and the entire staff at the NAPP have a passion for the Digital Arts and it shows with the work and organization that goes into putting on this huge event, another reason why this is such a huge success year after year.
