With the Digital Television Conversion underway in the United States, consumers have been informed on how television will be affected in their homes. The changes are causing some to either switch to satellite or cable and others to drop a few bucks and purchase a Digital Convertor similar to the Zenith we reviewed previously along with an antenna.
Many consumers though haven't thought of how the Digital Conversion is going affect portable television units and in some cases emergency televisions during times of national or weather emergencies. Having a portable television on the desk or on the road can be a great way to keep up with News or even sports.
The DTV Conversion is changing the possibilities for these portable TV's and a company called Eviant has answered the portable needs with a 4-inch and 7-inch portable digital television that should be able to recieve the broadcast on the go. The larger screened Eviant T7 is a digital TV that offers 16:9 widescreen format, great for watching over the air movies, and is capable of receiving free, digital channels without converter boxes or subscription TV services.
Eviant is referring to the unit line as the "Card" series for its size and ability to carry in a purse. backpack or shirt pocket.
We talked with Andy Frankel, Vice President of Eviant on the products that will continue to allow consumers portability with television with its "Card" line and how the products offer a different
non-traditional look to portable TV's with an array of colors. The 4.3-inch unit along with the 7-inch Card is powered by a built in rechargeable battery. The larger unit offers an AV in plug for connecting a DVD player or external device along with a remote control. Both units also offer an external antenna jack.
