In the last few years we've really come to seen so many changes and technology additions to the living/entertainment  room. Most of the changes would appear to come in Flat Screen technology with LCD, Plasma and DLP becoming common words when shopping for the newest gadget to complete the home theatre.

Yamaha wants to make sure that the combination of technology is also a part of the audio experience. Lets face it, watching a film such as Batman Begins or the recent release of Pink Floyds last concert tour would not have the same feeling with a two speaker sound set up. Yamaha Electronics Corporation has released a couple of new receivers that go beyond adding enhancement to motion pictures or concerts but blend the latest technology into the units.

We talk with National Training Manager Phil Shea about the RXN-600 and the RXV-2700 Receivers. The RXN-600 is a Network AV Receiver with Ethernet ports that will allow the user to not only benefit from 6.1 audio features to enhance the Video experience but also have full connectivity and the ability to play back content from your PC or internet Radio. Users can also tie into XM Satellite Radio with XM HD Surround and iPod with an optional iPod dock. The unit can translate MP3, WMA and Wav file audio. Onboard USB ports will also allow the playing of audio files from flash or removable storage drives.

Phil also shares some info on the RXV-2700 which has similar features to the lower priced RXN-600 but also offers 7.1 audio as well as 1080p compatible HDMI for the best connections for High Definition as well as 8 Channel external output versus the 6 channels on the RXN-600. The 2700 is really designed for the true audiophile wanted the cleanest and optimal audio settings. The price tag is dramatically different for both units but those looking for connected systems will be happy with the output and quality of both these units.
