In the last year, We have talked with Microsoft's Michael Clark on Unified Communications, Window Server 2008 and now how Microsoft is working within the "Cloud". The cloud is an often used term from Technology companies that have found the Web as not only a great delivery method for software distribution but also a way to tie in services through the desktop and on the Internet.

The advent of broadband technology has made this more possible as the services consumers and business use for communication, fun and productivity can be used on the web without having to install to a desktop and can be used by laptops, workstations and public terminals away from the office or home.

While some have predicted that this could end the traditional desktop application suites and drive the applications as strictly web delivered services, others have seen this as a combination of the two. Microsoft has developed this as a Software + Services strategy and we talked with Michael Clark on how the company envisions this to benefit the consumer and business owner to allow greater collaboration and sharing. Microsoft believes that Software makes services better and the services can make software better. Services such as Microsoft Office Live Small Business allow the user to not only connect with clients but also manage contacts and network the business.

The benefits to Small Business users are tremendous as Software + Services can give them the same tools major corporations have used for sales teams, marketing and interoffice communications. Michael shares with us in our discussion some scenarios on Software + Services in use today and also gives us a great way to start using these features right now.
