One of the best tools any photographer can have is of course a keen eye and sense of what they want to capture with the snap of the button to take a photo. This applies to not only the film camera user but to the Digital photographer as well. Controlling all the elements when taking a photo is not always possible and a good shot can at times be affected from lighting and conditions that are uncontrollable.
Adobe has been a great partner to the photo enthusiast for years with products for the professional in Adobe Photoshop to the new or casual photographer with Adobe Photoshop Elements. For the last couple of years a buzz has existed on Photoshop Lightroom for the photographer wanting to maintain simple adjustments to correcting in batch with photos imported to the Lightroom program. In the short year and a half since it's official release, Lightroom has found photographers from all classifications using the program to be the first stop for image correction, sharing, printing and web publishing of images.
The new features in Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 2 have been developed from user feedback in the Adobe Forums and through discussions with photouser groups as to what should be a part of the program. Adobe integrated Localized Corrections which allow a user to adjust certain areas of a photo when needed rather then applying a correction to the entire photo which may not be needed. This can be a great companion when adjusting sky levels or color when the ground levels are satisfactory. Also to aid the photographer is a strong organizational tool to search across volumes and find photos based on Metatag information. A good example would be to locate a photo taken with a specific camera could be found, and even filtered based on the ISO! Sorting and organizing these photos in a timely manner gives the photographer more time behind the lens then in front of a computer monitor.
Presentation is also a big part of Adobe Photoshop Lightroom with Sharing to Social sites such as Flickr or SmugMug made easier with integrated API's to easily upload directly to the sites. Image gallery's can be created for the Web to upload to personal or business sites and photo slide shows can be created for presentations in the office, great for the photographer or company wanted to share images at trade shows.
