It's that time again as we approach April 15th. While many radio stunts involve aspirin and postage stunts, we instead would like to give you the information you need to help get through the tax process easily and timely. TurboTax from the makers of Quicken, Intuit, is a great way to not only take control of your tax returns but also a way to get money back faster, besides. it's your money isn't it? Information we received from Intuit stated that the average return was in the $2200 range. According to a customer survey, over 19 billion dollars in refunds were claimed this year by March 04, 2007.  It has been 10 years that TurboTax Online has been serving self empowered tax filers with many choosing to E-File. 

There are many different flavors of TurboTax which run the gamut from desktop products to online products for the tax filing and each geared for a specific type of user. For the desktop or boxed products it starts with TurboTax Basic  which  assist and prepares the user for filing the federal Income Tax form. The step up from the package is TurboTax Deluxe which is both Federal and State as well as some special deduction programs. If you have rental property and are also looking for tax saving tips for your 401k or IRA contributions the next step would be TurboTax Premier.  Finally, the top of the line package is the Home and Business edition which includes Federal and State tax forms and expanded schedule C guidance for those running a business whether out of the home or not.  

For Online filers, this year TurboTax is experimenting with a Free Online version of the basic filing. This will allow those that are just doing the short form work with the 1040EZ forms at not cost. State filing is not included. Deluxe, Premier and Home and Business are the next in line with Online filing however state is not included with the online versions.

Not only will Intuit work with Quicken but the TurboTax program will also integrate with the popular QuickBooks business software program. This can be an incredible time saver for those wanting to fill out deductions from the checkbook. The desktop products can also be used throughout the year for keeping an eye on potential deductions.
