Wally Kniaz
Wally was one of the most inspirational members of the show and has left a lasting impression on all of us. He once said that when Radio gets in your blood, it's a tough one to turn away from. Over the year Wally had developed an impressive resume and had been on the air in radio for 12 plus years. After BARELY graduating from the well regarded Salpointe High School in Tucson, Wally tried to look at a future with courses at the Pima Community College…Early in his career Wally thought of venturing into Landscape Architecture with an eventual transfer to the University of Arizona. After finding out the Landscape Architecture School at the U of A was being shut down due to lack of funds, Wally asked himself “Whats the next step?” For most of us that have found Radio, it has a way of finding you.
It was during Wally's time at Pima Community College that he was able to procure a spot at Clear Channel KNST-AM as an intern for a radio show called “Jane White’s Psycho Kitchen” as a call screener. Wally didn't fall into that job with a written resume but instead it came about while he was installing a CD player in the host Jane White's MGB. Taken by his quick wit and personality, she asked him if he wanted to get into the radio business. After six months of working with Jane, he became her board op, then he got hired at the station as the overnight weekend do it all person. That position moved quickly up the ranks and eventually turned into an Assistant PD Job for the powerhouse 93.7 KRQQ in Tucson.
From there Wally moved to Skyview Traffic and worked with Tucson Veterans Gina Corral, Alan Kath and the popular April. After a short time in, Wally packed up and moved to Twin Falls, Idaho where he worked as a bouncer, auto detailer, and with Radio still in his blood, an evening radio host on a local Heritage station 95.7 KEZJ.
Doors opened and Wally's talent shined as he joined a morning radio show which became “The Morning Show With Brad And Wally.” The program was well received in the city and state as it was named “The Best Morning Show In Idaho” in 2006..
Tucson has a way of bringing people back, and the calling for the Desert Life brought Wally back home to Tucson. With the Radio Bug flowing through his viens, he found a new home with friends Andy, Slick and former Co-Host Carol at the TechtalkRadio Network. Wally provided insights to the world of technology from a user perspective as well as fun and informative reviews and coverage on the world of Entertainment. Whether it's a new DVD, Movie in the Theaters or website that provides pop cultural infotainment, Wally was our source for your information. Wally served as Co-Host and Engineer from 2006-2008.
Sadly, Wally passed away in 2008 as a major shock to friends and family. He will never be forgotten.
