Andy Taylor talked  with local filmmaker, musical artist, and 2 time Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter Linda Chorney for a conversation about creativity, technology, and what it really means to be an independent artist in a rapidly changing digital world. From music and filmmaking to audiobooks and DIY production, Linda shares how technology helped her to take control of her career—and her story—on her own terms.

The discussion dives into Linda's journey from decades of playing music in clubs to earning an unexpected Grammy nomination, a moment that triggered both opportunity and intense industry backlash. She explains how early digital platforms—long before social media dominance—allowed her to reach Recording Academy members directly, ultimately changing the trajectory of her career. That experience became the foundation for a trilogy of projects: a deeply personal book, an award-winning documentary film, and now a newly released audiobook.

Looking back, Andy and Linda were able to discuss working together on a comedy series project she created called "Saving Bernie." Andy played a character in the show that takes a comical pie in the face delivered by Linda. A fun project with a great cast of people.

On the Technical side of things, Linda also opens up about learning filmmaking and audio production from scratch, embracing tools like Final Cut Pro, Pro Tools, and using online tutorials to edit films, sync sound, and produce professional-quality content without a traditional studio budget. Along the way, she recounts memorable behind-the-scenes stories—from painstaking frame-by-frame edits to recreating moments at iconic locations like Fenway Park—highlighting both the technical challenges and creative freedom of going fully DIY.

Linda Shares an inspiring message for aspiring creators: technology may be intimidating, but it has never been more accessible. Chorney’s new audiobook, It Ain’t Over Till the Indie Sings, is a raw, funny, and honest reflection on perseverance, rejection, and resilience—encouraging artists, writers, and dreamers of all kinds to tell their stories, trust their instincts, and create without compromise.
